Misc News, Events & Announcements:

***International Day of Peace -
Celebration of United Nations INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PEACE at The Neighborhood Theatre - Sept. 21, 2013.  The first United Nations community organized family-friendly day of celebration of peace packed with cultural, spiritual, musical, artistic, and literary programs. The day will include festivities such as Indian dances, a cello and sitar performance, Singing Bowls, drum circle, children activities, ethnic and local food, and reading from six faiths-quoting only scriptures of peace, and more.  Like all cities celebrating the UN International Day of Peace every where in the world, at 12 noon, we will stop to hold a moment of silence to celebrate Peace. Each year the International Day of Peace is observed around the world on 21 September. The General Assembly of the United Nations has declared this as a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, both within and among all nations and peoples. The Charlotte Cooperation Circle invites you to honor a cessation of hostilities during the Day, and to otherwise commemorate the Day through education and public awareness on issues related to peace.

THANK YOU!

Thank you to those who have reciprocated links or shown appreciation or have supported me in some way throughout the years.  This weekly newsletter not only takes many, many hours to compile, distribute, blog and promote, but also costs a monthly fee.  As many have shared with me, it's both a valuable resource, and a treasured promotional tool. I started it, (in 2003), as a service to my musician clients and friends who, at the time, had few ways of promoting their shows, or a publication that would have an interest in writing about, or even listing their independent shows. It has grown since then to include much more, but its purpose remains the same - not to be a comprehensive list, but a way to help promote and advertise those artists and venues I'm familiar enough with to personally recommend, and whom I feel may need, and appreciate, what I do.
