*April Verch Band Concert*
The Great Aunt Stella Center - Fri., Nov. 21st, 8pm

The Charlotte Folk Society is presenting the April Verch Band in their Queen City debut concert. This band has established a reputation as consummate performers in Canada, the U.S., the U.K., and Europe, winning over audiences with sheer virtuosity, charm, humor, and boundless energy on stage. April Verch combines the talents of Natalie MacMaster and Alison Krauss - all in one person. This young woman from Ontario's Ottawa Valley captured both the Canadian Grand Masters Fiddle Champion and Canadian Open Fiddle Champion titles when barely in her twenties. She is a stepdancing champion who performed with the Pilatzke brothers (now touring with Irish music legends, The Chieftains) as a member of the Dueling Dancers, a troupe that earned national attention for its blend of innovative and traditional Ottawa Valley stepdancing. As well as fiddling, dancing and composing, April is a vocalist whose voice has been hailed as "absolutely captivating" by the Toronto Star. April's 2008 release, her seventh album, "Steal the Blue," was recorded in Nashville, and was co-produced by Stephen Mougin (Sam Bush Band) and Jon Weisberger. Visit http://www.folksociety.org to watch from a selection of 15 of her videos.  "This concert is undoubtedly November's best entertainment value." - Wanda Hubicki, Charlotte Folk Society
The Great Aunt Stella Center, 926 Elizabeth Ave., Charlotte, NC
Advance tickets: $15 adults; $10 ages 15 & younger; buy online at http://www.folksociety.org. At the door: $17 adults; $12 ages 15 & younger.
