Band/Artist/Media News, Features, Announcements and Upcoming Events
*************************************************************************
*** = New Additions This Week
Misc News, Events & Announcements:
***First of all, I just returned home from a trip to the UK last night, so my apologies if I've missed anyone or anything, or for any errors you may find in here this week.
***I'm sad to share the news that Debby Wallace, local Blues music fan and supporter, co-author of the book "Home of the Blues: 35 Years of the Double Door Inn," mother and friend, passed away at her home. Services will be held at 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, at Wilson Funeral Home on Albemarle Road. Debby loved the Blues music scene most of all and I've learned more about a lot of our local and regional blues artists because of her. I'll miss seeing her joyful presence at these shows and her heart for the artists and their music.
***Listen to the WSGE 91.7FM "jazz spot" radio show 6/2, 6/3 and 6/4 (10:00 pm) for your chance to win a 3 pack CD giveaway - Miles Davis, Dave Brubeck and Charles Mingus (Summer of 59' legacy edition) - Gaston College radio, 91.7 fm or streaming at http://www.wsge.org. Hosted by Tammy Greene on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
***Joe Kendrick, WNCW Midday Morning Host/What It Is/ARC Overnight Producer is trying to locate former ARC hosts to help celebrate their 16th anniversary. Joe is forming an ARC Overnight Hall Of Fame, recognizing some of the dedicated volunteers over the years. Please contact Joe Kendrick at joek@wncw.org if you were or know of an ARC Overnight who He may add to the list.
***Listen to Malcolm Holcombe w/Ed Snodderly on NPR's Mountain Stage - http://api.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=102663902

More information and ticket links at http://www.joshritter.com/tour.php. If you're interested, please send an email to Doug at playwithjosh@gmail.com. Subject should be "HORNS FOR _______(concert city)". Include your instrument played, credentials, links to see and hear you play - plus your full name and phone number.

"Hey
Laurie, I went to NoDa to enjoy the festival and it was a ton of fun. I mostly
went to see a friend perform "Lindsey Horne", but enjoyed all of the other
artists. Thank you for all the updates on performers."

"For those of you on Twitter -- subscribe to charlottemusic. These tweets update new music events in Charlotte, and are comprehensive! I can't post everything, so I pick and choose shows based on personal experience and recommendations. Janice does this too. This twitter tool gives loads of options! It's not a group to meet other music lovers, but a calendar of what's going on, when and where. Awesome."
