**The NODA/CLT Giveback Series presents: The North Carolina Heroes Fund Benefit w/E-S Guthrie, Evelynn Rose, The Part-Time Blues Band, Heywire, Wavy Space, the Parodi Kings and the Belmont Playboys The NODA/CLT Giveback Series will be a number of events scheduled at intervals throughout the year for the benefit of local charities. ***Congratulations to The Alpha Theory and Deadstar Blues who won a finals slot in the 106.5 Speed Street 2010 Battle of the Bands http://www.1065.com/pages/eventsales.html?_show. All the finalists will compete at the Alley Cat on May 14th to win a spot at Speed Street 2010. Good luck to all! The next semi-finals are Thurs. May 6th (see above).
***5K Run for Clean Air Runners and walkers can find race details online at www.cleanaircarolina.org, and register for the 5K trail run or 5K trail walk along the 5K championship cross country course, or Tot Trot for ages one to eight years. The registration cost for adults is $20 before May 8, $25 until May 21, and $30 on the day of the race. The Tot Trot registration cost is $10. Race day registration and timing chip pick-up takes place from 7-7:45 a.m. at McAlpine Creek Park.

**Special Artist Opportunity: A Chance to Sell Work and Perform Across N.C. The N.C. Department of Cultural Resources is launching a new program this summer called 2nd Saturdays: History, Heritage, Arts & Fun. These 2nd Saturday events in June, July and August are an opportunity for artists to showcase their work at more than 30 state historic sites and museums across the state. The dates of the Saturday events are June 12, July 10 and August 14. The event time varies at each site but is generally 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Several sites would also like to include musicians, performing artists, authors and storytellers in these events.
